Well, the Summer 24 Hour Writing Contest was today. Here was this seasons topic:
The young girl pulled another pair of pants from the pile of laundry. Between the hot black iron and the fireplace, it was stifling in the small kitchen. The only relief she could hope for was a small breeze coming from the window overlooking the distant waves. Her arm started moving methodically once again and, just as she started to fantasize about a forbidden swim, the iron stopped at a bump in the pocket...
The word count for the short story could not exceed 950 words.
I am amazed that I actually got the story done in roughly 6 hours. I usually am rushing to get everything submitted and am unable to proofread and really think about it prior to submitting it. You can read the actual story on the page titled "Awakening."
I am actually happy with the way the story went this season and will sleep on it and reread it in the morning before submitting it.
I am going to go on and put the story here on my blog. Last time I waited until it was judged and the winners announced, but I doubt that anyone who is part of the contest, or anyone else that's entered the contest actually reads my blog.
This a place for me to share my stories with others. I write in a variety of genre, but mainly horror/suspence, with a bit of fantasy mixed in. After reading one of the stories below, please leave a comment and let me know you dropped by. So, pull up a chair, refill that coffee, and dive right in. You never know where a story will take you. Keep checking back, you just never know what you might find...
Below are links to some of my short stories. Be sure to join my followers so you can stay updated on the site. The stories will occasionally change.
