NaNoWriMo

Well, the month is half over and of course from my last post, I started over. I'm back up to 28,837 words and it's going smoother. I have't been posting much here, so I thought I would take a moment and at least log my wordcount.

Starting Over....

Well, I had to start over. The current story line was crap. It died before I knew it. Couldn't get it to progress no matter what I tried.

So, using the same premis, but going a different way with it, which the characters had wanted to do in the 1st place and I ignored, so now my word count is 5934 (was over 17k.)

Day 2 of NaNoWriMo

Well, day 2 is done. Total word count is now 4,175. There are a lot of people in OKC and surrounding area's doing this. I am going to go to one of the meet & greet's on Wednesday night and another one this next Sunday in Norman. Hope to have some fun and to continue the challenge.

NaNoWriMo Starts...

Ok it's now officially November 1st. NaNoWriMo officailly kicked off at midnight. it's 0614 and I've written about 1800 words of my 1st draft. 6 friggin pages if you can beleive it. So far so good.

A few more days...

Well, we only have a few more day's and it's NaNoWriMo. I have purchased a Hoodie from their website and I'm going to use it as my writing focus, or at least I hope so.

I particpated in the CD Swap this year. I hope that everyone liked the music and can't wait to find out what others listen to.

Anyway, off to the bill paying job (for now.)

Gearing up for next months NaNoWriMo, I have splurged and purchased a very nice fountain pen. I have also ordered me a NaNoWriMo hoodie to wear while I'm writing. After signing up for the CD Swap program I decided to go eat Chinese food. My Cookie read as follow:

The lost is found...

Well, it's been awhile since I sat down and even thought about my blog site. Someone from my past actually tracked me down via this site and facebook and I was very surpised and happy to hear from her.

I hope we don't loose touch again. Oh and if she's reading this post.....I no longer have a case knife in my bathroom .

I found it...

I have been searching for over six months for the DVD workout for my Total Gym and found it this weekend. I started working it last night and MAN do I feel it. I am going to start doing their Pilaties and the actual workout every one, alternating them. I figure when I get writers block or something I can work out and blow off some steam.

Again I have tried to start the NaNoWriMo and havn't quiet started it yet, but it's still early this month and I can catch up.

A very crazy month...

Well of course I didn't work much on NaNoWriMo. I think I gave up under 300 words. This month has been crazy. I have travled back and forth from Woodward to OKC, to Tulsa and back several times and we are starting new clients in both offices at the same time (Tulsa has the bigger client which is why so much travel.)

I did take a break last weekend and scanned some family pictures so expect them to start appearing in some of my blogg's.

Sorry it's been awhile...

Yes I gave up on trying to do the NaNoWriMo, but I'm still working on it. At my 9-5 job, we have a few new clients which I have to make sure we get running smoothly which is taking up a lot of my time. I did take a few days and go to the lake with my Niece. Below is a picture.

Rough start.

Well the 1st day of the writing didn't go very well. Cindy called right after I started writing and wanted me to help them in the game. I only got 119 words written. Of course the next night I didn't get any done since it was movie night.

I am going to work tonight, but of course I may have to do some actual work tonight if Lisa sends me the emails. She will of course probably send them after I go to bed or something.

I still plan on keeping everything going. I just wanted to keep things posted.

It's DONE...

Well, I have finally done it. I have completed a short story to MY liking and have submitted it, along with a cover letter to Weird Tales magazine. I should hear something within the next 6 to 9 weeks. Thats the hard part.

Since today is June 1st. I have decided to do the NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) challenge. You have 30 days to write 50,000 words (1st draft) of a novel. I think I can do it and I'm going to keep this site posted with my progress. Even if its just the word count. I will start tonight. Kink in the plans...

Over the weekend I encountered severe dizzy spells. So violent that I was unable to keep even liquid down. It resulted in my going to the Emergency Room. Come to find out I have an inner ear problem, which is Viral. Antibiotics will not help it.

My doctor say's that it could come and go so I will have to be extremely careful about my ears. Of couse my sanity is affected by this as well. I noticed that I have been going off on Toepick lately for minor stuff, which has resulted in her going off my my stuff (DVD's ect.)

I have purchased an ICage for her so I will now be keeping her caged while I'm out of the apartment. Hopefully that will work and I will be able to keep her.

1 more day...

1 more day before the long weekend. I have a lot of writing plans scheduled for myself during this time as well as my nieces cookout for her birthday. She's getting cash this year along with a gift card for borders book store.

They are also suppose to announce the winner for the WOW writing contest and I hope I at least place. A win would be fantastic but I'm sure there were other writers who were more proficent than I am that submitted work. We shall see...

I hate working a day job...

I would love to be able to jsut stay at home and work on my writing. Be my own boss! There are things I would have to consider and worry about and one of them would be health insurance.

I do know that no matter what I would need to keep some sort of medical insurance to cover medications and doctor visits.

Well, they are announcing the winner to the World of Warcraft Creative Writing contest on this Friday (fingers are crossed.) The winner recieves a trip to California and a very nice sword. The questions that were asked durring the submission phase leads me to beleive that there might also be a writing job on the line as well.

I have thought hard about that, and would very much take one even if it ment moving to California.

no subj

I haven't had much to write about this week. I did get my medalion in the mail from the Marathon. I have it on the wall and they even sent a discount code to sign up for next year at a 25% off the price.

This weekend I am going camping with Elaine's Class. I hope the weather will be cool like it has been, but dry. We have a 20% chance of rain Fri & Sat so hopefully it wont be in that area.

TGIF...

Thank God it's Friday!!! This has been such a long week. Next week I'm looking forward to. Mon & Tue I can hide in my office and only have 1 day (Wed) over in the main office. Thurs I am going to Tulsa all day and I've taken Friday off for a camping trip.

I'm hopeing that I can get my story finished this weekend (or tonight) so I don't have to worry about it and I can work on my novel's storyline.

POV

Point of View. It's funny how changing the POV on your writing can actually give it a boost and jump start your writing.

I just wish I could see well enough right now to actually do more writing than I am. I am having to get use to some new medicaitons and they have made my DIZZY beyond belief and also my vision has changed already since my blood sugar is coming back down.

Which pisses me off since I paid over $300.00 for my glasses two months ago and now can't even focus when they are on. I would just go get me another pair, but I had to get breaks for my car wich was $354.00 and is going to cause me to probably bounce something this payday (after using all my over draft.) It's going to be a very long couple of weeks.

Breaks...

Yesterday I had my breaks done on my car. $354 and some change, OUCHIE. Yet it was a good investment since I will be doing a lot of driving this summer not only for work, but for personal pleasure.

I plan on going to some, if not all, of the National Parks here in OKC. Most if not all of them can be driven to within a couple of hours.

OKC Memorial Marathon

The day after the marathon and I'm feeling great. I was tired at the completion and after resting yesterday, but not as sore as I was anticipating. Cindy (my sister) was quite sore and her boss got overheated.

We did the 13.2 miles in 4 hours 28 minutes. We kept to Cindy's pace since she didn't train as much as I did and walked slower. Next year we will go for a faster time.

A new day...

Today is the beginning of a new and fabulous life. As I have said in my other posts, I've got a new outlook on my life and activities.

I'm writing more and enjoying doing it (as you can see by my posts.) I'm also enjoying life. There are of coure ups and downs on all of it, but I muddle through and enjoy it in the long run.

I hope everyone who reads this has a wonderful day and they find something to enjoy in it. Even if it's a piece of candy.

Time will crawl today...

Well today is officially going to crawl by. It's my Friday (even though its Wednesday.) I'm trying not to be too crabby about today in general.

It's Allan's birthday and I have to make sure my mood don't plummet into depression. I just focus on good thoughts for him and my ex, even though its hard for the ex, but I really dont' wish her any ill will.

Today is also Earth Day, which I hope Allan understands is a very important day and I also hope he participates and understands everything about this day.

Well, Gotta get some work done.

Writing Partners?

Well, I've been speaking with my friend Elaine and we are going to co-write and see how that works. She will do my proofreading and research and I write. I will bounce ideas off of her and work stuff out with her.

I know there could be complications in this type of partnership. I'm doing the writing and she is in the background. I myself have no problem and will even give her credit as a co-author if she wants it. I can actually say I trust her to be fair and not need a "contract."

We already have some fairly good ideas that of course I've already changed or "worked out a bit" which I will run across her tonight on our walk.

Hectic Couple of weeks...

Sorry I haven't posted in a few day's. I have had a lot of work to get caught up with. I will also be having some crazy weeks.

I just found out that I'm diabetic, which is why I have been loosing so much weight so fast. Getting use to the medicaion (and my blood sugar coming down) is crazy. I think I slept most of the weekend away.

Thursday, I will be doing the Rope Corse for Elaine and of course this Sunday is the OKC Memorial Marathon.

I also have to get my assignment finished and 2 synopsis completed and sent off to school. I will have a new instructor since it's been a year since my last assignment. I'm just glad they are letting me complete it, which it's only 3 assignments.

Time to see a doctor:

Well, I hope everyones Easter went smooth. Mine was very relaxing. I was able to complete and submit my short story to World of Warcraft.

Now I need to talk about my dizzy spells. I finally told my sister this morning that they seem to be getting worse, that I got so dizzy Sunday while fixing dinner that I thought I was going to vomit.

She think's it might be my blood sugar, which is a possiblilty since I used mom's blood meter and it showed 545, but I dont think that is accurate since the strips expired in January. I'm going to call today and schedule me an appointment. I just dont have the energy I had. Something has defently changed. So either my HDL has hit rock bottom or I'm full blown diabetic, or something that I'm not aware of is happening.

Contest...

Well, I was able to submit my entry last night. I think it will go well. I just hope I at place at the very least. I only had 12 days to complete it where most people probably had the full 30. I feel good about the story I sent and if they don't like it, I will work on it some more and check into sending to Fantasy & Science Fiction Magazine and see if they like it.

Anyway, I now have to complete Assignment 10 for school and have it sent off and received by May 14th. I now have a new instructor and I have no clue who that person is or how they may perceive my writing.

Facebook...

Well, I'm officially on Facebook. A friend invited me to become a member so I took the plunge. All these sites, blogging, twitter and facebook. Everyone wants to know what everyone is doing. I personally like the blogging since you can upload photos from your life with each post or even create a blog for all your photo's. Not sure if the others can do that.

I have linked my facebook page to my blog and vice versa. I was amazed to see so many people from my high school listed on facebook. I may have to send them a greeting and get caught up with what their lives have been like. I know I've missed any Class Reunions that have taken place. I never was one to stay in contact with the past, as anyone who knows me now would know.

Okay, now I have to get off my blog and get working on this contest. I have to have it submitted by tomorrow.

Happy Birthday Mom

Today Mom would have been 64 years old. I'm going to try and keep it together today and not let it drag me down ( like I said in my other post.)

I had a moment with Toepick this morning. She looked so sad. I know I should have tried to find a house to rent with her, but an apartment suited me more and she is adjusting to it, even if she has been rebelling some. I think that's more to age than anything else, and of course her personallity.

I'm really going to focus on my writing, not only for these contests, but actually start submitting to some magazines and get my carrier started. I can't claim I'm a writer unless I submit stuff.

Well, now to the job that is currently paying the bills, which one day will be reversed.

Naptime is over...

I feel like I've been in a daze or a nap phase for the past year since my mother had passed.

Its hard to explaine, but for the past 17 years, since i've returned from the military, it feels like a dream. I know it's happened, but all the suffering and hurting I've endured, which has made me the person I am today, is over. I honestly feel like i am able to get on with my life.

Starting fresh, well as fresh as I can. I know the memories will engulf me again sooner or later, but I know that I will be able to continue my life instead pausing to reflect for another year.

I've been listening to David Cook's albumn and it's very theraputic to me. I missed him on American Idol so I don't know much about his struggle to win, but that one episode where he perfromed his song "Come back to Me" was very emotional for me, not over the words, but they kept showing this woman in the aduiance, whom I imagine was his mother. The look on her face is the look that I seen in mom's face all my life.

I know in my heart that no matter what happens with the rest of my life, if I'm a famous Author or just a recluse who lock's himself into his apartment and talks to his dog, that my mother would be proud of me and that its my own fears that are holding me back and preventing me from achieving my dreams.

So from this day on, Naptime is over. I am going to perform, wether it be Art, or Writing I will be creating something, my own masterpiece, creating life from imagination.

Coffee & Oatmeal..

It's either that or Sprite & Pizza (which I'm having for dinner.) The Medieval Fair yesterday was fun. Me and Elaine (a friend) were tired by the time we finished.

I had some ideas that i might implement next year and possibly open a booth. Have Ed make me a whole bunch of wooden swords. Puchase a bunch of rocks, do some pictures that sort of thing. I will have to weight the cost of all of it vs what I think I could charge, plus theres the fees and manning the booth. I will just have to think it over.

Speaking of Elaine. She's a good sounding board for my writing. She is infectious about her reading and when I mention an idea she makes me work it all the way our with just a simple comment.

I spoke with her about this contest that I'm entering (if I can get the story done,) and she's so excited I think she might have P'd herself.

Well, I guess I had better get the story started. I hope everyone who reads this has a wonderful day.

Is it energy or passion?

When I first started thinking I wanted to be a professional writer, I was hell bent on getting stuff down on paper. Of course, it was harder than I thought and even years later I'm still struggling to get all the "Dynamics" down pact.

My biggest problem is no longer finding the time to write. Since mom has passed I have found I have plenty of time, its the energy that I'm lacking now. Some might call it passion, but I still feell the passion. I can honestly say that its more energy than anything.

After puting in a day at work (the one that pays the bills.) I am mentally drained. It's all I can do not to stop and take a nap after I get home. I have signed up for some other activities that I'm hopeing will help give me a boost for energy.

I will be doing a rope course for a school on the 23rd. The 26th doing a marathon (13.1 miles) with my sister for the OKC Memorial and last but not least another camping trip for the school on May 16th.

In between all of this, I have a contest story I'm working on that I have until April 12th to get it submitted and an assignment due by May 14th. I would also like to get a short story or two written for the students before the camping trip so they can have somethign to work on.

Well, I'm again going to try and post somethig daily (hopefully with this new gadget I can, because its on my desktop and will remind me to write.

OK thats it for today. I may post again after I get home from the Meadevil Festival with Elaine. I am going to try and write some before then.

Why is it that Friday afternoons just drag by when you want to go home and write!
